I know it’s late in the semester, but hooray for this one! This allows you to easily use an Arduino (and similar) to turn on/off wall voltage (120v) devices. These are available direct from the link and places like SparkFun.

Max/MSP + iPhone = Wireless control →
I came across this article and thought it might be useful for iPhone users
that want to control Max/MSP used in their installation wirelessly via their iPhone.
The app for the iPhone is called c74.

Teensy board (Firmata compatible) →
I just picked up one of the Teensy++ 2.0 boards (with pins)… installed Firmata on it and voila! 9 PWM pins, 8 Analog pins, and the rest digital. Pretty great for a USB powered project… easy connection to standard size breadboard.

Alison Knowles →
An artist with a concern for communication.
Her performances involve interactions like making a salad, but I really like her other projects that simply include ticketed found objects. These projects are similar to the sort of prizes I want to incorporate into my midterm installation.
In honor of Ada Lovelace day (today, March 24), I’m posting on Daphne Oram… a pioneer in graphic sound / electronic music. The video embedded here is the 1st part of Peter Manning lecture on her work.

ITP & PIR →
ITP’s physical computing class resources… the link is for how to hook up a motion detector PIR sensor. You can get a PIR sensor at radioshack for $10.00. They sell ‘em in the electronic components bins under sensors. The Parallax PIR Sensor Module works fine. The wiring is a little different than what I showed in class today with the other sensors, but certainly doable…...

This is my post for the week.
I really enjoy Jim Campbell’s integration between electronics, photography , and installation. Look at his low res reconstruction series Also, I’ve been looking at his different installations.
